HSE & Sustainability

Sustainability, Health, Safety & Environment Policy & Framework at Asamah Kadiri Legal.

Sustainability, Health, Safety & Environment

At Asamah Kadiri Legal, we recognise the importance of conducting our professional activities responsibly and in a manner that promotes the wellbeing of our people, responsible use of resources and sustainable business practices.

Our approach to Sustainability and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) is proportionate to the nature and scale of our operations as a professional Legal services firm and forms part of our broader commitment to responsible and ethical business practice.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

We are committed to promoting a safe, healthy and conducive working environment for our employees, clients and all persons who visit or engage with the Firm.

Our approach includes maintaining appropriate workplace safety practices, identifying and addressing health and safety risks associated with our operations, promoting HSE awareness amongst our personnel and maintaining appropriate emergency preparedness and response arrangements.

We seek to periodically review our practices and procedures with a view to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Environmental Responsibility

As a Professional Legal services firm, our environmental footprint arises principally from our office operations and the resources required to support the delivery of our services.

We therefore encourage responsible practices aimed at reducing unnecessary environmental impact, including:

  • Efficient use of energy and water
  • Increased use of electronic documentation and communication where appropriate
  • Reduction of unnecessary paper consumption
  • Responsible management and disposal of office waste
  • Responsible use and procurement of office resources
  • Promoting environmental awareness amongst our personnel

ESG & Sustainable Development

At Asamah Kadiri Legal, we recognise the growing importance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations in promoting responsible and sustainable business practices. Our approach reflects relevant ESG considerations across our operations and professional practices, having regard to the nature and scale of our business.

For us, ESG provides a broader framework within which our commitments to environmental responsibility, the wellbeing and development of our people, ethical conduct and sound governance can be considered and progressively strengthened. In particular, as a Professional Legal services firm, we recognise the importance of integrity, accountability, professional ethics, regulatory compliance and the rule of law as fundamental elements of responsible business practice.

We also recognise the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as an important global framework for sustainable development. Our sustainability and ESG practices seek to support the broader objectives of the SDGs, particularly in areas connected with our operations and professional responsibilities, including health and wellbeing, decent work and professional development, responsible use of resources, access to justice, the rule of law and the promotion of strong and accountable institutions.

We recognise that sustainability and ESG practices continue to evolve and remain committed to progressively developing our approach in line with the nature of our operations, applicable regulatory requirements and recognised principles of responsible business practice.

Employee Training & HSE Awareness

We recognise that employee awareness and participation are important to maintaining a safe and responsible workplace.

Our HSE training and awareness initiatives are designed, as appropriate, to address areas such as workplace health and safety, emergency preparedness and evacuation, fire safety awareness, basic first aid awareness, identification and reporting of workplace hazards and incidents, ergonomics and responsible use of workplace resources.

HSE orientation and awareness also form part of the induction of new employees, while periodic communications and refresher initiatives may be undertaken to reinforce relevant health, safety and environmental practices.

Training requirements are considered having regard to the nature of our operations, employees' responsibilities, identified workplace risks and applicable regulatory or client requirements.

Our HSE & Sustainability Objectives

We seek to progressively strengthen our HSE and sustainability performance through practical initiatives appropriate to our operations. Our objectives include:

  • Promoting a safe and healthy working environment
  • Supporting the prevention of workplace injuries and incidents
  • Improving HSE awareness amongst our personnel
  • Encouraging responsible and efficient use of energy, water and other resources
  • Promoting responsible waste management practices
  • Strengthening employee awareness of sustainable workplace practices
  • Periodically reviewing our HSE and sustainability practices to identify opportunities for improvement

Through these initiatives, we aim to integrate health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainability considerations into our day-to-day operations while continuing to provide quality professional legal services to our clients.
